Job Klinkhamer: “There will be moments where people say something cannot be done or is impossible”

Job Klinkhamer (26) is an enthusiastic alumnus of the Media Future Week. The past half year he worked on a virtual guidance system for the visually impaired. We asked Job 5 questions about his experience.

What experiences and/or knowledge did you gain from Media Future Week?
Last year’s topic was designing for society. I learned that if you design things for society you have to bring people together. Sharing things with friends and belonging to groups is part of what makes us human. New technologies and design should enforce those ideas of what defines us as human beings.

What one activity or experience did you enjoy so much at MFW15, that if you had the chance, you would do again?
There will be moments where people say something cannot be done or is impossible. My assignment was about the future of radio, we were told we couldn’t visit the radio station. We did it anyway and got some valuable research. It was glorious!

What are your two ‘do’s and don’ts’ of MFW?
Do’s:
1.
Be open to all the new people you meet.
2.
  Share your ambition and passions.

Don’t:
1.
Sleep in! You really don’t want to miss anything
2.
Try and be in control all the time, part of what makes MFW great are things just happening.

What would you say is the best way to prepare for MWF?
You can prepare as you like but you still be surprised and perhaps a bit overwhelmed anyway. Be open to all the new experiences you can muster up.

How would you sum up Media Future Week in one word?
Impact!
