Yosef Safi Harb

Yosef Safi HarbYosef Safi Harb is an aerospace and mechatronics engineer turned health entrepreneur, who is currently the founder and creator of Happitech. Happitech turns your smartphone into your personal coach, giving you insight into your health and emotional wellbeing. Happitech’s first product, Skip a Beat, is the world’s first mobile game that you win by lowering your heart rate – combining gamification and accessible personal health monitoring into one app.

The Happitech team is a diverse group of people, and includes a neuroimaging engineer, signal processing engineer, software engineer, game developer and a game artist. After launching on February 5th, 2015, the app went straight to the number 1 spot on the Dutch App Store chart. The product has been featured in 136 international publications including Venturebeat, Business Insider, Mashable, USA Today and several major Dutch newspapers. Additionally it has received several award nominations, including Top 10 Dutch Health Innovations by Computable, Games for Health, Top 3 most innovative games by Games for Change, and has been nominated by both Index Design for Life and the Spin Awards.

Next to being proud of his first product launch and continuously babbling on about it, Yosef loves to cook and eat good food, which very much determines his mood – so whatever you do please don’t give him Douwe Egberts coffee or a bland Dutch cheese sandwich. Besides that, he is usually smiling. On the weekends, Yosef hosts cooking classes and caterings for groups of eight to 100 people with clients such as Shell, TU Delft, ASML, The Next Web, SKF, TNO, and now THNK!

When Yosef is not working on Happitech, cooking or eating, he likes to spend his time with friends, or reading and watching everything and anything related to Happitech and food. His dream is to create an innovation lab that brings together engineers from various disciplines, to create creative and innovative software products that make people happier.

Speech: Monday April 20th, 19.00-19.50
